Mouse and keyboard-free, coin-operated arcade experience. Built in 2007. Custom designed from scratch. A childhood dream, realized. Hundreds of hours CAD modeling, design, planning, woodworking, soldering/electronics, artwork printing, and everything inbetween. The target user was my 5 year old son (now 10). I made sure he could start it, navigate it, and have a BLAST! If he did, then I would! Mission accomplished, it performs beautifully, day after day. The CAD plans (SketchUp) and full-resolution artwork were made available to everyone, for free. Runs any PC game.
As a kid, growing up in France, I seldom had a 5 Francs coin to spare. Arcade games were commonly found in bars, which were also not the most kid-friendly places. At the time, let's say 8 or 9 years old, I already fully appreciated the potential and future represented by such things as: programming, processing power, creativity, programming, design. I already coded in "Locomotive CP/M Basic"! I always had this dream, to own my own video game machine. Eventually, as an adult, I put my mind to it and studied what was involved to achieve such a feat. I created everything from scratch, no retroffiting or reuse was involved. It is amazing.
